The three main essentials for student experience at a university are culture, lectures, and affordable living. Not all universities live up to the student’s requirements. After looking at the newest international rankings from Quacquarelli Symonds, CNBC reported which cities offer the best experience for students. Each city was ranked by desirability, the opinions of students themselves, and affordability. Montreal, Canada, was fourth in the ranking of great cities for university students. This incredible city, located in the province of Quebec, was only outdone by London, Tokyo, and Melbourne. Montreal has an incredible culture and arts scene, cafe culture, and diversity. Canada’s second largest city, where a significant portion of the population speaks French, has its reputation intact as North America’s most open place for students. There are more than 155,000 full-time students in the greater Montreal metro region. Over 30,000 of them are from a different country. Principal and Vice-Chancellor of McGill University, where a third of the students attend, Suzanne Fortier, said the ranking is representative of how high the students and worldwide workplace value Montreal’s universities. It is also a view of the city’s new creativity and welcoming spirit. Montreal is a place of coming-together with a deep history, different languages and cultures, the arts and commerce, and a visionary outlook.
Students want to live here and study here making it a special place. “It is particularly rewarding to get this kind of international recognition,” Fortier said.
